This is Brunch to meet in Seoul, the capital city of Korea, widely known as Gangnam Style.
미국에서 한인목회를 하신 안남웅 목사님이라는 분이
Pastor Ahn Nam-woong, who held a Korean pastor's meeting in the U.S., was invited to a church in North Carolina in the U.S. and went to the post.
미국 노스캐롤라이나주의 어느 교회로 청빙을 받아서 부임해 가셨다.
그런데 거기에 소위 ‘왕언니’로 불리는 한 권사님이 계셨다.
But there was a deaconess called the "big sister."
‘왕언니’ 하면 벌써 위압감이 느껴지지 않는가?
Don't you already feel the pressure when you say "Big Sister"?
그런데 안 목사님이 부임하기 전에 이 왕언니가
Before Ahn took office, however, the big sister reportedly kicked out three senior ministers.
담임목사 세 명을 쫓아낸 전력이 있다고 한다.
새로 부임한 신임 목사님 입장에서는 이런 분과 잘 지내야 목회가 순탄하다.
From the perspective of the newly appointed pastor, getting along well with such a person is the best way for the ministry.
그런데 불행하게도 사소한 일로 안 목사님과 왕언니의 관계가 틀어져버렸다.
Unfortunately, however, the relationship between Pastor Ahn and the big sister was broken due to trivial matters.
게다가 왕언니가 얼마나 뒤끝이 긴지,
Moreover, no matter how long the pastor tried to reconcile and tried to make up, it did not work at all.
목사님이 아무리 화해를 시도하고 애를 써도 전혀 통하지 않았다고 한다.
예를 들어, 목사님이 악수하자고 손을 내밀면
For example, if a pastor reaches out for a handshake, she shouts his hand and turns her back.
그 손을 뿌리치고는 등을 돌려버리는 것이다.
이러니 새로 부임한 목사님 입장에서 얼마나 힘들었겠는가?
So how hard must it have been for the new pastor?
괴로워서 잠을 이루지 못했을 뿐 아니라 가위에 눌릴 만큼 마음이 불안했다.
Not only was the pastor unable to sleep in agony, but he was also anxious enough to be paralyzed by sleep paralysis.
이렇게는 안 되겠다 싶어서 교회를 떠날 결심을 하기도 했다.
He decided not to do this, so he decided to leave the church.
왕언니가 네 번째 목사님을 쫓아내는 시점이 온 것이다.
The time has come for the big sister to kick out the fourth pastor.
그런데 안 목사님은 바로 사표를 내지 않고 비장한 각오로 3일간 금식기도를 하기로 했다.
Ahn, however, did not resign immediately and decided to fast for three days.
3일간 금식기도를 하면서 괴로운 심정을 하나님께 토해내고 있었는데,
He had been fasting for three days and venting his anguish to God, and it seemed that God was saying this to me during prayer.
기도 중에 하나님이 내면에 이런 말씀을 주시는 것 같았다.
‘너는 왜 일방적으로 미워만 하고 감사할 줄 모르느냐?’
'Why don't you just hate one-sidedly and not appreciate it?’
